Midnight Island is a presevation kennel of Finnish Lapphunds and Australian Shepherds. Our puppies are raised with loving care and our buyers become extended members of the Midnight Island family. I offer lifetime breeder support .

As a child, I grew up with Samoyeds. When I lost my first Sammy, I began the search for a similar breed, but smaller. That was when I came across the Finnish Lapphund and after a bit of research.. I was hooked! After making contact with one of the only breeders in the country at the time (Linda Marden of Sugarok), my family brought our first lappy home in February 2001. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to eventually breed these special dogs. Linda and I stayed in touch and eventually I got my first show dog from her in 2012 - Sawyer. Sawyer and I learned so much together. He went on to become a top winning dog in the breed and his wins included a Best in Specialty Show, Select and Award of Merit at Westminster and numerous group placements. Thanks to the mentorship and friendship Linda has shown me, I have been able to become the breeder I am today.

While the Finnish Lapphund breed owns my heart, I felt like I was missing something. I added an Australian Shepherd to my pack in 2016 and it was at that moment I felt my soul was whole. I began getting involved in dog sports like dock diving and lure coursing. I took agility classes and began herding lessons. When the covid pandemic hit, my venture into the performance end of things took a bit of a backseat and then I took even more time off to raise a family. Now, I am ready to finish what I started! I now have my first WTCH aussie and plan to continue with the versatility route. I am still establishing myself as a breeder in Aussies and have been enjoying the adventure this journey is taking me on!

About the name:

Midnight Island is a combination of my first Finnish Lapphund show dogs: Sawyer (BISS GCHS Sugarok Island Boy HT CGC) and Willow (GCH Sugarok Midnight in the Garden). These two dogs have taught me so much about the world of conformation and purebred dogs. I owe my continued passion to them and their descendents.
